Re: Underworld London 25th September 2013

Awesome!!! Too bad I'm in the US. Haha Yeah, they've had that photo there for a while. It's too good to change I guess.

Re: Underworld London 25th September 2013

It has been a very long time since I've posted here but HELL YESSS!

See you all there!

Re: Underworld London 25th September 2013

Not sure there is an 'all' any more, but perhaps once the word spreads some more of us will come out of hibernation.

Re: Underworld London 25th September 2013

Nice! I'm already gonna be in London at that time!

We should all wear Coelacanth badges.

Re: Underworld London 25th September 2013

When are they going to officially announce the tour?

Maybe it is a side effect of the Internet, but I don't remember ever seeing random tour dates and ticket sales for a band becoming public weeks, we could even say months, before an official announcement of the tour.

The evidence so far, Holland, France, the UK, and the associated dates suggest they'll be around the EU for at least the second half of September. Maybe this all was somehow last minute and they're still scrambling to fill in the rest of the "dance card" before saying anything about it...

Checking their domestic schedule, it appears they're booked up to the last day of August and then starting again in Japan in early October. That tell us London might be the very end of the tour, and France on the 14th of September suggests perhaps a beginning. Between the 16th of September (Holland) and London (the 25th) we see no dates. I'm sure everybody is wondering WHERE else are they going to play?

Indeed, there is another hole in the sched: Their last domestic on their published sched right now is on the 30th of August...will they take two weeks off before heading to the EU - or will they start earlier in the EU at some yet to be announced dates - or will they maybe make a 10 day whirlwind tour of the USA before showing up in France ready for liquor and pajamas?

Buzz about this yet-to-announced tour is starting to show up all over the net. If in fact, the issue is they don't want to announce before securing all dates, then I think they ought to give up on it. The cat is SO out of the bag. Even if everything hasn't been nailed down, they could at least confirm their general intentions.

As the Holland and London dates also list The Telephones, I've been keeping an eye on their website, but also no news...

Am I being too impatient?

*rises from the dead*

Oh my, just found out about this from a coworker seeing my old Poly-shirt and saying 'oh that crazy Japanese band. My friend is seeing those soon.'

Gotta admit I haven't really been following the band for a few years... haven't been as interested in the newer material...

But I might just be there for old times sake!

Re: Underworld London 25th September 2013

I'm so there. Might go to Brighton to see them too!

Re: Underworld London 25th September 2013

I haven't listened to anything since Kayo left and I don't really have any intention to either. But I may head down to London to see them if the urge takes me smile

Please at least listen to eee-P. I'd say it's their strongest post-Kayo album. Five songs!

(also the pv for how are you is so hilariously awesome)

I don't post here much anymore but I still have a fond appreciation for Polysics. Hit me up on Twitter @west_haven if you really wanna talk to me smile

'Last time we were here was 5 years ago. Sorry it took us so long!' - Hiro

Oh god that was bloody fantastic. I am officially off the wagon and frantically in love with this band again!

Highlights and thoughts!

- The recent songs which I haven't been so keen on are actually really great live.
- Baby Bias and I My Me Mine are indeed back!
- Hiro's kazoo strapped around his face replacing Kayo's recorder.
- Fumi doing a great job on some of Kayo's old vocal parts.
- Yano's prompt cards during Lets Daba Daba.

- Bonus! The Telephones were fantastic too! Their keyboardist was super fabulous.

Re: Underworld London 25th September 2013

Yeah, it was a really fun gig.

It had a really strong opening, then kinda sagged a bit, but they ended it well with some classics.

I thought the new stuff sounded good. Lucky Star sounded surprisingly great, as did Everybody Say No. Raptus was probably the highlight from the new bunch though, sounded nice and punchy.

I thought Kaja Kaja Goo suffered from "bleepy" syndrome which was disappointing, and I My Me Mine just wasn't as special, but it was great to hear them. I didn't like Weeeeeeeeee!!! closing the main set though.

Overall though a really positive show. Yano was excellent (although I couldn't see him at all), Fumi was on form and Hiro kept it all together (looked knackered though).

Agree about the Telephones, they were a decent support band.

Re: Underworld London 25th September 2013

I can see my hands there! It was my fist Polysics gig and it was fantastic. The Telephones were ace and were so nice afterwards.

I got to play the synth thing on Hiro's guitar on Mega Over Dive too, which was cool. I thought the bleeps had more crunch to them live.

They said they'd be back soon. They better be

Re: Underworld London 25th September 2013

Well, I'd say there's plenty of life in the old dog yet. Polysics are definitely a three piece and not a four piece with a missing member. Fumi has stepped up and taken on extra vocal duties where necessary and it just works. Hiro still has energy to spare, he was getting regular showers of bottled water from a stage hand so he didn't pass out from the heat (it was not as bad as The Garage Islington in '06 but still too warm for comfort).

Songs old and new came over well, great audience response, a proper long set (70 minutes!) and I high-fived Yano after the show. Who wants to touch my hand? ;o)

Good support too, especially from the Telephones who gave new meaning to the word 'disco'. Or at least repeated it a lot at very high volume.

The only small cloud to this silver lining was the photographer with a huge camera and even huger backpack who decided he was going to elbow me out of the way after I'd queued for an hour then stood at the front for more than two hours to get a good spot. I'm of the firm opinion that photogs who do that to paying punters should have their lightmeter forcibly installed internally.

Hate to end on a negative note so, also: kazoos! Zomg. *dies*

Ahh check out my hamster face at the back there.

Funny that for such a technologically advanced nation the Japanese still seem to be using 0.3 megapixel cameras. Lucky for me in this instance.
