Topic: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

I recently got my BGV vhs transfered to DVD, and have begun the process of making menus and extra content. I am having problems on what to include, so if anyone can help me with any of the following, please let me know!

-DVD Cover Art: I can't find a good scan of the BGV artwork, so I am thinking that, for the cover, maybe we can have some photo from the BGV era (2000-ish)

-Polysics history. I am working on making an essay on the history of Polysics. If anyone can provide any information, please let me know. Also, I am working on having a complete show listing, and have a good chunk of the early years, thanks to the PVDVDVLIVE! dvd extra, which I will add to this post so you can help fill in the blanks.

-DVD menu artwork. I'm looking for 4-5 images to put under the menus. See #1 for what I'm looking for.

-Any high quality live footage not found on any comercial released DVDs. I am thinking of doing a bonus section with extra footage.

I will update here on the progress, and when the DVD is done I will post on where to obtain it. This will not be for sale, it will be a free project done out of love for the band.

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

Yes! Thank you so much for this! This will be a very interesting project! big_smile

For the show listings, you can get help from west's NEU!!!!! book. And we probably all have some non-DVD concert clips. What specific times/eras do you want the clips from?

Oh by the way, the BGV concert was on December 3, 1999.

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

Yeah, I got the shows from 1997 to 2000 in my NEU book, and if someone here was to get the new Absolute POLYSICS book, I've heard it may have a listing for every show they've done.

Here are those pages, one and two, and if there are any shows that you can't really read, I could help smile

And since I do have NEU, you can look through my book and tell me if there's any pictures you'd like to use. I'll try actually scanning those in for you, too, instead of making you use pictures I took with my camera.

I can't wait to see your finished product!! Good luck, good luck!!

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

That would be awesome dude! I gave my copy of BGV to a fellow Polyfan as a birthday present so having a DVD would be excellent.

A thank you kind sir.

Project sounds very interesting, good idea.

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

seeing as this is a fanproject, why don't we recreate the cover in polyfashion. So it reflects BGV and adds the fanbase touch.
To give you an example of what I mean here, you could for example recreate the building from the cover in lego's and use that as a sourcepicture. Or you could recreate the building in 3d and use a wireframe render to replace the building, etc.... It's kinda in the line of crazy polysics artwork and still reflects the original vhs

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

Do a colleague!! Make all the pictures orange tinted for part of the cover, and then for the black space, make 'em greyscale so that it mimics the original cover! It may get tricky trying to find all the right pictures, but I bet it could happen!

Wow Sancho, sounds like an epic project! Looking forward to it!

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

Hey all,

It seems like i could be getting in wayyy over my head.

One of the things I wanted to say about the rare videos is I am looking for high quality versions. I do not want to make a DVD of a youtube rip, because that would defeat the purpose of putting videos on DVD.I might rip the tour date section from PVDVDVLIVE! and include that on the DVD however, because re-typing the list of shows would be impossible because I don't know japanese.

I may begin making a slideshow, so if anyone wants to scan/upload any pictures they might have, please do!

Roger, will do!! I'll scan a few things from my NEU book. I'll get scan a few of the good 2000 era stuff too, since there isn't a lot of the 1999 stuff, and most of it is in black and white.

Good luck on this!!! big_smile

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

I just remembered that Polysics were the musical guests on Adam and Joe Go Tokyo, and I downloaded that a few months ago. So, the footage of there preformance (Kaiji Kaji Goo) will be on the dvd.

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

Long live Adam and Joe!

Sorry... I miss them.

Are there any specific eras you want the concerts from?

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

As long as the quality is good, era doesn't matter. I know some of the Rock in Japan footage is out there, so if anyone has anything like that in decent format (non-youtube rips), let me know!

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

I wish I did, but I only have the youtube rips. The only thing I actually have downloads of are their PVs. I saw you asked Shizu on Twitter, and I hope she's able to help some! That would be really cool! big_smile

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

I've got a few things that aren't youtube rips, I can't remember where I got them from. I don't know how high quality you're looking for because most of the tv rips are quite poor.

The stuff I have that is of reasonable quality.

Filename - length - resolution

Polysics - Rock in Japan 2007 - 12m 51s - 720x576
Polysics - Rock In Japan Fes 2004 (2004.08.06) - 9m 19s - 352x480
POLYSICS - ROCK ROCK KONNICHIWA!!! (scout outfits) - 12m 14s - 640x480
Polysics Live at 93ft East London 1-5-06 - 14m 8s - 720x400 (from You You You single DVD, audio out of sync)

Also you can get the O2 Wireless Festival 2007 London performance from here

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

I got you a few NEU pictures for you!

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PVFO6V0K

I would have scanned more, but the binding was already slightly weak in the back of the book, so I didn't wanna push it too hard. I got some pictures that looked really good, like the one with Hiro and two guitars! And of course, Kayo and her Legos <3

And also, I found that I do have some Polysics things downloaded! You know the videos off of Excite that just had the band talking to a camera? (ex: this) I was able to download those files using VLC and I have 'em somewhere. I'm sure you'd be able to do it too, it was pretty simple with that program. I'm not sure if that is something worth putting on the DVDs, though, because they do speak in Japanese and there's no subtitles.

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

I have 2 LiveG clips.

TV'S HIGH + (mini?)interview
Code4

I have Rock In Japan 2009 in 3 parts.

Also I have a part of COUNTDOWN JAPAN 07/08

I think that's it for me XP. I'm pretty sure west can help a lot with her whole library of videos, haha.

Yeah, I wish they were better quality, though. They're all Youtube/Nicovid downloads....

I wish we could have the original files for the Rock In Japan 2009 concert. I flippin' love that concert and I watch it all the time on my ipod. That would be a really awesome thing to have on a DVD!

Re: Polysics BGV Fan DVD project

I'm working on throwing a little mini trailer as a preview of the disk 1 content (seems that the finished project will be 2 disks). I'm really not sure how long it will take for me to gather enough resources for disk 2, so maybe I will release the 1 disk, regular edition first, and after everyone gets that THEN I'll re-release it with bonus meterial (like a true Japanese music project).
