Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

'Everybody say no'? Vocoders?

MEGAPHONES (I hope)!

Edit: I just reflected on this post and thought that I seemed ignorant in inadvertantly linking megaphones to vocoders but is a(n electric) megaphone a type of vocoder?

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

While i'm not entirely sure how the inside of a megaphone works, i'm pretty sure it just amplifies the sound whereas a vocoder is far more complicated.

I won't be buying this release right away due to a bad case of the brokes. And I don't care about the LE this time around seeing how they screwed us last time. I am looking forward to more vocoder tho, you just can't have enough vocoder big_smile

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

I may skip on the limited edition too, and just get it and Lucky Star in one fell swoop.... eventually. I really hope this release hits me better than Lucky Star, or else I won't be looking forward to the new album at all.

[s]I wonder if the new (Bass) Guitar is just for the benefit of the PV asthetics because they've kept the same models for a long time.[/s] WRONG! WRRROOONNNGGGG!! Sorry talking utter rubbish (again) there.

Last edit: ugh can't use strikethrough on here hmm

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

Lucky Star and Everybody Say No are fine songs, but neither of them feel especially like singles.

They both sound different to the sound of Oh! No! though.

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

I am loving Everybody Say No WAY more than the Lucky Star EP songs, so things are looking up, in my eyes. Plus, the music video was way better than Lucky Star's. It felt a lot like the Kaja Kaja Goo music video mixed in with Hard Rock Thunder's.

I liked this PV, too, because it was the return of Fumi's red bass and Hiro's plank guitar!! They all looked really cute/awesome too smile

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

It's really catchy.

One thing about it which kind of bothers me a bit maybe.
The programming. That bleepy bloopy high pitched synth.
They've been using that a lot in the past couple years.

EDIT: Disregard that, it's perfect.
EVERYBODY SAY NO, EVERYBODY SAY NO
EVERYBODY SAY NO, WOAH OH OH

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

Everybody Say No is an awesome video - visually representing the band's aesthetic...totally cool, in my opinion.

meanwhile, I think ?!Mark't recognized the oversight and that Fumi and Hiro's axes are anything but new - indeed, they are previously seen here in a "vintage" video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzcT2XDg4Wg

And also on many occasions in live concert - FYI: Fumi also picked-up a black Yamaha that shows up from time to time in live concert...

I'm wondering about the demographics being used to determine future concert tours, I.E. nothing outside the islands of the land or the rising sun seems to be in the offing in the near future...

In the meant time, I've always thought that the lopsided keyboard sculpture appearing on stage at all live concerts since Kayo's departure might have represented some kind of hope for her eventual return...however, it is interesting to see that she will soon be appearing as keyboardist on an upcoming album for another band...

The mind boggles....

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

I have the CD, IAmSancho.
Overall a bit disappointed with this single. The DVD is another snippet mashup which is annoying.
Their re-interpretation of KI.KA.I.DA is horrible IMO...

Didn't think much of 'Everybody Say No' either but maybe it will grow on me - I do like the Vocoder too.

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

By the way, not sure if these are known/posted somewhere but here are the lyrics for KI.KA.I.DA...possibly my favourite Polysics song these days. These were transcribed from the CD insert...Lyrics almost identical to the original version but new version is a bit shorter:

I got a metal body now! I got metal, red eyes
I got a metal body now! I got metal life life life
my arms are made of steel
I exchanged all of my parts
I got a metal body now! I got metal head head
I got a metal body now! I got metal heart heart heart
my arms are made of steel
I exchanged all of my parts
    freedom of choice
N.O.S.E,H.A.N.D,F.A.C.E,H.E.A.D,
K.N.E.E,F.O.O.T,F.I.N.G.E.R.DA---

I got a metal body now! I got metal, rolling eyes
I got a metal body now! I got metal hand hand hand
my arms are made of steel
I exchanged all of my parts

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

wink

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

Holy crap what have they done. KI.KA.I.DA sounds like it's a cover by Atari teenage riot. (ATR has SOME good songs but the majority is a godawful mess like KI.KA.I.DA)

The Watson reinterpretation isn't much better. When I was praying to hear a more gritty sounding Polysics I was thinking among the lines of synthpunk not digital hardcore.

brb I have a table to flip

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

I've tried and tried to like this, but I just can't.

For the love of god people, if you haven't heard the new versions of the songs then don't go there. You are not ready for this.

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

Alright so, my opinion:

I LOVED the song Everybody Say No, and I definitely liked it more than Luck Star. I found myself hopping around, singing along, and getting the chorus stuck I my head, which is everything I ask from a Polysics song.

Watson 2012 was..... odd. I liked the chorus, but it didn't seem right to me.

KI.KA.I.DA! 2012 was weird too, but I liked it because Fumi sang it too, and that was awesome. I only wish I could hear their voices clearer, because they're quite muffled from some sort of effect. I only really like this song for Fumi's singing.

Bottom line: if the new album is more Everybody Say No and less Lucky Star, then I'm gonna be happy. And please stop taking old songs and electrifying them into almost unrecognizable forms. Take them, shake them up, but don't make them so electronic that it looses all charm.

Re: New single: "Everybody Say No"

Being unable to find a copy online and with my copy still not delivered, I can't say what I think about the reworked tracks. However, it is nice to see not everyone thinks of them negatively!

I like Everybody Say No,  Lucky Star and No.Control, so I'me sure I'll like at least 60% of their newest releases anyway smile
