Re: The Official Intro Thread

Upon leaving the cave, you find yourself on the edge of a deep, mist-covered gorge cutting from east to west.  The sides of the canyon drop off in steep cliffs into the inky blackness below.  The smells of smoke and rotten eggs assault your senses.

To the north lies the only way across the gorge, a rickety rope bridge.  An old man stands nearby.

>north
"Stop!" The man moves to bar your way across the bridge.  "Whoso wouldst cross over the Bridge of Death must answer me these questions three, ere the other side he see!"

>save
Game saved.

>ask away; I am not afraid!
"WHAT... is your name?"

>Specialist290
"WHAT... is your quest?"

>save
Game saved.

>i seek the grail
Before you can finish answering, a mysterious force pulls you off of the bridge and casts you into the Gorge of Eternal Peril.  The remainder of your days are spent in ceaseless torture; thankfully, they are short.

You Have Died.

Would you like to:  START a new game?  RESTORE to your last save? QUIT the game?
>restore

You are standing before the Bridge of Death, which crosses over the Gorge of Eternal Peril to the north.  In front of you, blocking the way, is the Bridgekeeper.  He stares at you expectantly.

"WHAT... is your quest?"

>i seek a polysics fan forum
The Bridgekeeper nods in approval.

"WHAT... is your favorite color?"

>blue.  no, red.  no, wait...

Hello, toisu, domo arigato, buenos dias, et salve!  I am Specialist290, as revealed in that little dialogue above (and the indecision over my favorite color is genuine).  I am a current college history major who was introduced to Polysics about a year ago (via YouTube, through "I My Me Mine") but didn't really get into them until recently.  I've already got all the albums that are available on iTunes or in my local area, and I'm hoping to get a few more from Amazon in the near future.

Polysics aren't my first or foremost musical "love" (those both would be the Beatles), and I'm actually a bit surprised that I like them as much as I do.  Still, they are my current musical obsession, and I'm trying my best to get as many albums as I can (even putting my previous attempt at getting all of The Who's albums on hold while I do so).

My musical tastes are very diverse and sundry, ranging from blues and Motown to British Invasion pop / rock to even some New Wave stuff (and even a little early disco, as a guilty pleasure wink ).  I tend to go after older music as opposed to newer stuff, but Polysics (and particularly Hiro's live performances) really made an impression on me.  They're probably the only band I really like that's still (possibly?) giving live concerts whose members aren't 50+ years old, and I'd really like to see them perform and perhaps meet them in person someday.

I've also always fancied myself as something of a writer, and I'd like to write a few things someday, whether they be novels, songs, adventure games, etc.  I also love to read, especially history (non-fiction) and science fiction.

I know a little bit of high school Spanish (though I'm a bit rusty), and I'm also taking two years of Latin in college at present.  I don't know very much Japanese, so unfortunately I can't actually understand most of what the Polysics are actually singing, but that just means I get to use my imagination big_smile (and I've been half-tempted to write my own version of the lyrics in a few cases; I don't know if that would be sacrilege around these parts, though... hmm )

At any rate, I hope I'll fit in well with the crowd here.

Semper felicitas.

Re: The Official Intro Thread

Toooiiiisu!! Welcome, welcome!! And your favorite color is orange, am I right? ;D It's been a while since I've seen that movie, but I guess yellow is an acceptable answer here.

It does sound like you listen to a variety! I, um.... well, I do just listen to Polysics 95% of the time. Any other stuff I listen to is sometimes quite random. For the past year.... Polysics or die!

Aha, don't worry about not knowing Japanese. I believe I heard from somewhere that even Japanese fans don't quite understand Polysics songs some of the time. All that matters is the emotion, not just the words!!

Ah, sorry; I didn't look far enough to see this introduction thread before I posted in a different topic first.

Hello Everyone!
I'm Soultron!
I live in Wilmington, NC and I Love Polysics!!!

Hmm... that came out boring and pretty obvious.

Well, let's do it this way.

I first heard Polysics in 2008 when my friend and drummer Wallace Book showed me the I,Me,Mine video/
We were initially talking about break dancing. Why was a 2 piece soul/punk/folk duo was talking about break dancing?
You had to be there...
Anyway, as soon as the video was over I watched another. And then another. And another. Then I took my dog out so she could make. Then I watched another video. And so on.

I like this band so much. I hope to see them on day, be it here in the U.S, or in Japan.
If at all possible, I'd like to own a Yamaha SGV 300 or at least know where more of Hayashi's guitars come from.
I'll in

D&D Sluggers is not a softball team, but I guess it is.

It seems I'm the newest member to the board in a while...Well hello hello and TOISU!!

I'm a Polyfan from Mesa, Arizona (in the Phoenix Metropolitan area) and have been a fan only since about December 2009. I had heard people mention the Polysics before but I never really bothered to check them out. One day my sister was browsing at upcoming local concerts when she saw that Polysics would be performing in Phoenix in January 2010. We didn't know much about them except that they were wild and were from Japan, so we figured we take advantage of the rare opportunity to see them live in the States. A few days prior to the concert, I was checking out videos of them on YouTube to prepare myself but of course that still didn't prepare me at all for what was to come. The energy they had was incredible. I even invited a friend along who  knew nothing about them and was not nearly as open to different music styles as I am, yet she also really enjoyed herself. We bought all their CDs there and a t-shirt, and being a premie-fan, I didn't realize that the people selling the merchandise before the concert were in fact the band members. I always regret not getting their autographs then.  We tried to get Kayo's autograph after the concert, as it was her farewell tour, but weren't able to. ; 3;  Still, it ended up being one of the best concert experiences I have ever been to. <33

Age: 21
Favorite color: Green
Favorite food: Home-cooked meals!
Favorite animal: Man this is hard. Used to be horses, but red pandas are awful cute
Favorite member: They're all equally awesome, but Fumi inspires me to play the bass like none other
Favorite song: Rocket
Other bands: Family Force 5, Miike Snow, Sakanaction (but I like nearly every other genre out there as well)

Attending ASU for a major in linguistics. Currently taking Japanese and French (would like very much to do Korean as well).

Glad to be here!
Polysics or DIE!!!!!!

Re: The Official Intro Thread

Hello, my name is Benjamin and I live in Australia. You can call me Ben, it's shorter. I've liked POLYSICS since around 2005/6 but my like didn't turn into love until earlier this year when I got the BUDOKAN OR DIE blu-ray and something crystallized in my brain. I immediately set about getting all their other DVD/BDs as well as all the singles and EPs I didn't already have. I also found this forum.

My favourite POLYSICS member has to be Hayashi. That said, whenever I watch them (performing as a 4-piece) my attention invariably turns to Kayo.

I don't really compile "favourite" songs in my head, but my iPod tells me my 3 most played songs are currently Rocket, Natsu Bam Bam and Buggie Technica 2012. I would also add Coelakanth Is Android, and currently playing Kagayake a lot.

My favourite food is anything I feel like eating right now.

Favourite animals are cats. All of them. Unconditional love.

Favourite colour is green.

I listen to a wide variety of music, but not much else that really sounds like POLYSICS.

wanna light more
