Topic: "How was the concert??"

Rant about the concerts on the current Polysics tour! How was it? What did they play? Anything interesting happen? (like that'd ever NOT happen with the Polysics... xD)

Re: "How was the concert??"

I was at the concert in the Los Angeles area (Troubadour in West Hollywood, to be exact, and also not part of the MySpace tour), and simply put, it was something I'll never forget, especially since this is the first concert I've ever attended. I told myself that the next time Polysics was in town, I'd go to their concert just to experience seeing them live, and it was more fun than I could have ever imagined. They were the featured band, and here's what was played (in this order, if I remember correctly) :

Kaja Kaja Goo, New Wave Jacket (Reform), Tei! Tei! Tei!, Each Life Each End, I My Me Mine, XCT, Black Out Fall Out (New Version), My Sharona, Peach Pie on the Beach, Baby Bias, Electric Surfin' Go Go, Coelakanth is Android, Shizuka is a Machine Doctor, Buggie Technica.

Tons of songs. Everybody was really into them and the music. Seeing them live made me an even bigger fan.

Re: "How was the concert??"

I just saw them in SF. Jesus christ. This is EASILY the greatest concert I have ever been to. SO MUCH awesome shit happened, I can hardly beleive it myself. I went to go pick of some swag, and noticed that Hiro was working the booth, its great that they care enough about their fans to run their own merch booth. Usually they just get other people to do it, but Polysics really appreciates their fans. I talked with him for a bit, I showed him my homemade Polysics patch on my jacket and he dug it. Then he gave me a signed poster for free!!

I wasnt paying that close attention to the song order but I'm fairly sure it was the same as achow said. They definately played all those songs, and I remember it opening with Kaja Kaja Goo and ending with Buggie Technicha. He opened up by addressing the audience "We are Polysics, from Tokyo, JAPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!!" Everything was super energetic and intense, after about the 3rd song I thought I was going to die, but I didnt care. I forget what song it was, but I reached out and touched Hiro's guitar during a solo. He's got a new white one, but dont worry, it's still got DEVO affixed to the back! There was this guy who stagedove a couple of times, which was pretty impressive for how small the venue was. I wanted to, but there was no way I could escape the dance area. Throughout their set Hiro was getting more and more drenched in sweat. By the end of it his whole suit was entirely soaked. He was sweating so much, you could ACTUALLY see sweat dripping from his fingers as he was playing guitar.

During the encore he told everyone to "GO FUCKING CRAZY", so I started a mosh pit... and it was pretty fucking crazy. After they ended Hiro threw his pick into the crowd and I GOT IT. People were offering me money for it, but there was no way I'd give it up. Truly a magical experience. I'm still all sore, and my hearing's a bit shot, but needless to say, it was worth it big_smile

And here's the rest of them...

If you read through all of that, my hat goes off to you. Polysics or DIE!!!!

Re: "How was the concert??"

The White Guitar Is Actually Hiro's Original(ish). His Red One With The Club Devo Energy Dome Sticker On The Back Is The Newer One He Uses For Some Songs Live.

Although I Notice Fumi Is Using A New Bass!

@Nihonjin: Well, they're the "supporting act" of the Myspace tour, so I'd expect them to go first.... That way, all your energy is saved up for rocking out *their* show!! 8D

No, this was their mini west coast tour before the big myspace one. I'll probably be seeing then next month when they come back for that one, even though I hate all the main bands...

Re: "How was the concert??"

Me and a friend went to see Polysics in Detroit.  We met a few other people who were there for Polysics too, but there were also people who were the opposite and hated Polysics yelling "Shut Up" and such.  Other people who didn't know Polysics still got into them a bit.  The venue was a decent size, at first it seemed kind of empty, but it filled out.  They played hits for the most part and opened with Kaja Kaja Goo.

I got some pictures while I was there :

Plus, I learned that one of my old friends is a fan too! I'll actually have someone to go with! 8D

Re: "How was the concert??"

At Detroit they had the typical rude merch stand people.

Re: "How was the concert??"

Does anyone know if Miki and the other bloke are with them? They were the people doing the merch in London last time. Maybe they're trying to save some cash by doing it themselves lol

Re: "How was the concert??"

I went to the 19th show in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was one of a few just there for Polysics. The venue was really small. It was the best concert I've ever been to. I got there really early and was 3rd in line. I was front row, but the only one really into the music, the crowd there was really not into it which made me mad, but I still enjoyed myself. I bought a t-shirt, cd, wristband, and button set. I left early because I really didn't want to see the other bands. I asked my friend later how the concert went and he said he met POLYSICS between hellogoodbye and say anything. I have been beating myself up ever since I heard that. Asking WHY DID I LEAVE EARLY!?!?!?!? The good news is my other friend got their SETLIST AND HAD IT SIGNED BY KAYO, FUMI, AND YANO AND GAVE IT TO ME!!!!!. I was excited to recieve and thanked her soooo much. I was a little down that it didn't have Hiro's signature, but I am still really happy!

I am planning on going to Osaka next April and hopefully Polysics will be on tour near there. I would do anything to see Polysics live in Japan.

Re: "How was the concert??"

The Dallas Myspace Records Tour POLYSICS SHOW TOISU!!

So, my fellow Polysics fan and I drove for about half an hour to Dallas' Palladium Ballroom. We arrived right at 6:00, but there were already 100s of people waiting for the doors to open. When we finally got in, I realized how *small* the venue was. Not a cozy small...just small and crammed way too full of MySpace brats... Many people looked decidedly bored...sitting around, texting... Little did these people realize that their minds were about to be blown.

No one was playing yet, so my friend and I squeezed through the crowd to get as  close to the stage as possible. There were about two rows of unenthusiastic teenagers in front of us, followed by a barricade, an open space with an overly-serious-looking guard in it, and a dark stage. We all stood for about an hour waiting...we thought the Polysics would probably go on second, after Young Love....

...but then the stage brightened up and 4 orange jumpsuits jogged onto the stage.

"HELLO, DALLAAAAAAAS! WE ARE THE POLYSICS FROM TOKYO JAPAAAAAAAAAN!!!"

(small response from audience - except for the Polysics fans)

And then the fun began.

They immediately launched into "Kaja Kaja Goo" - a song much more fun live than on the album, IMO - with Hiro already in full conniption-like swing. By the second song he (and I - never gone quite so crazy at a concert before) was covered in sweat. Everytime the band would hit a down beat, little beads of moisture would go flying from his head.

The concert itself was a blur...I don't remember the song order or anything, but I do remember Electric Surfin' Go Go, I my me mine (of course), My Sharona, Baby Bias, Peach Pie on the Beach, and Coelakanth is Android being played. At first, the audience seemed bored - or perhaps a little shocked - but some row of jerks decided to start pushing on the rows ahead of them to create some sort of slow 'wave' (new wave? xD) mosh pit about mid-way through the set. Very annoying...

A couple interesting things that transpired on stage... Midway through one of the songs(not sure which one), Hiro got a little bold (admittedly, I didn't like these parts) and started to smack his guitar against his body, double-flicking off the audience, and (I really loved this xD) actually tapped the serious security guy on the head at one of the major downbeats. By the very end of the set, he was absolutely drenched in sweat, his glasses were off, and he was lying on the stage kicking his legs into the air - all while still playing. xDDD

And I, of course, was fangirling to the fullest the whole time, jumping 2-3 feet into the air, screaming, singing along...poor innocent bystanders who wouldn't get out of our way before the show... >xD

When they were done (it was a really short set - 45 minutes tops), they took down their own equipment (I think), and my friend and I immediately pushed our way out to get to the lobby/merch booth area. I was dying of thirst, so we bought a $3 bottle of water (omgwthbbq?!!?) and walked out, waiting for our beloved Polysics to come out and sign stuff.

We ended up waiting for about an hour and a half, during which we bought a total of two t-shirts and the Polysics or DIE!!!! (Vista) CD and hung around with the other Polysics fans. It was very much of an anime convention environment: I didn't know the names of any of the people I talking with - we were united simply be the fact that we loved this band. Unfortunately, at conventions (and this concert), I get a little annoying...so if any of you are reading this, I'm sorry! I'm not usually that obnoxious...only during exciting situations...

Well, good things come to those who wait, and the band (minus Kayo T^T) showed up in the lobby, sans costumes, as friendly and as normal as anyone you'd meet on the street. I suppose Hiro's insanity is a stage act. Anyway, they were extremely kind, giving hugs, photo-ops, and autographs to whoever asked. The language barrier hardly got in the way, and no 'glomps' or other rudeness were given.

However, the only hole in our hearts was the absence of Kayo (she's my favorite member of the band, for heaven's sake! D: ). So, about 15 of us (the fans that hadn't left) all walked to the door of the backstage and politely asked the security guard if we could see her. He went in, told us they were busy...so we waited there.

After about one minute, Hiro actually came out, asking who we wanted to see. He said Kayo was tired, but that he'd take our stuff to be signed two at a time and bring them back out. Please keep in mind that this guy is an international rock star who could have just as easily turned us away...but he was kind enough to actually *run errands* for his crazy fans.  Now I know why I love these guys so much... ^^

All in all, other than the fact I never got to meet Kayo and I lost the old promo poster I brought with me to be signed (oh, well...there's a poster that comes with the CD), it was one of the most amazing musical experiences of my life. I can't wait for them to come stateside once again...

Re: "How was the concert??"

Wow, I swear Polysics are the best band ever. The fact that Hiro ran back to Kayo with your stuff is AWESOME! I REALLY WANT TO GO TO A POLYSICS CONCERT! If only they came a little closer to Alabama. Nothing good comes here I swear >.<
